Optimization Techniques
Simulated Annealing
A probabilistic technique for approximating the global optimum of a given function.
Expanded definition
Simulated annealing is inspired by the annealing process in metallurgy, where controlled cooling of a material results in a stable crystalline structure. The algorithm explores the solution space by probabilistically accepting worse solutions in order to escape local minima. Over time, it reduces the likelihood of accepting worse solutions, thereby converging towards a global optimum.
